Stupid "D" Word
Hours before the game, flopping around looking for Steeler Videos to get psyched up. I find this one (I'll provide link later): a bunch of Steeler highlights and at the end they ask Jerome if this feels like Destiny? "Yes it does," he says. Dammnit.
I hate the 'D' word. Especially when it comes to football. The Steelers have been a team of Destiny no less then six times in the last dozen years. It doesn't mean anything! God does not care about the game, Jesus goes to watch, but I'm pretty sure he's hands off. Don't start thinking your a team of destiny until after you've done what your claiming you're destined to do. Until then you still have to play a good game of football. It was after '95 that I realized an axiom I have used many times since: "You aren't a team of destiny until you've won it all."
This is not the stuff I want to hear going into the game. I want to see focus, like when Joey Porter was asked about his pregame Colts comments on the first day back at practice: "I wasn't doing it to take a stand but, really, that's old news. New news is what we can do with Denver, " and that's it. That's what the whole teams attitude should be, next game, next game, next game. We're not some wildcard team trying become the first six seed to win the championship, now we're one of two teams in the Super Bowl who's trying to win, there's been 78 other teams historically that have been in this position. Now let's get it. Go Steelers. Go Bettis. Go Detriot. Go me with Mike Tomczak and his wife.
Go Cowher. Go (cry) stupid Seahawks fans. Go Steelers, did I say that already? Just go win already, I want my Trophy.
