I Hate Seattle Fans

I've been rooting for the Seahawks to lose long before they became our Super Bowl XL counterparts. This is based entirely on my presumption that the fans here are not deserving of a Super Bowl champion. They lack a general passion, it seems like their general reaction to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl is, "Nifty."

I mentioned to a coworker that Seattle might want to plan for crowd noise because that place is going to be packed with Steeler fans. I later found an article reiterating that, although it does so beligerantly: in the Seattle Times, Nanci Donnellan writes, "Any idiot can drive from Pittsburgh to Detroit in a matter of hours. They will. All of them."

I guess that is to imply that Steeler fans are idiots who think only of football constantly. Fine, I'll take that, but I'll also proclaim that Seahawk fans know nothing about football. I am constantly overhearing conversations about how good the Hawks are on offense with no reference to the quality of teams the Steelers have beaten on the playoff run. Can someone please tell me what your record at home is again this year, please, I don't quite hear that enough, nevermind the Denver Broncos. I feel like if I brought up the 3-4 defense I would get blank stares followed by, "but the Hawks are so good on offense."

Chuck Finder writes today about how Seahawk fans have been hard to spot. I'd reiterate that sentiment. I wore my only Steelers shirt to work on Monday, still reaking from the bar. There was nobody displaying even an iota of pride at the workplace. I did see someone in the Dairy Queen with a Cortez Kennedy jersey, which I thought was cool, but that was about it.

This is a blog about the Pittsburgh Pirates. My vision: to write about the games at the games.
